March Storm 2025: Be The Voice for Space

Updated: Mar 15

For over three decades, space advocates have come together in Washington, D.C., to push for policies that advance humanity’s future in space. Once again, we are called upon to speak for space. The Alliance for Space Development, in partnership with the National Space Society (NSS) and the Space Frontier Foundation, invites space enthusiasts, professionals, and advocates to join March Storm 2025, an annual space advocacy event taking place March 3-5, 2025.

\This is not just another space conference—it’s an opportunity to directly impact the future of space policy. By meeting with Congressional leaders and policymakers, we ensure that space development remains a priority for the U.S. government. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or new to policy discussions, your voice is needed.

Why This Matters

The space industry is at a turning point. While commercial capabilities are rapidly advancing—lower launch costs, increased orbital infrastructure, and growing private sector investment—government policies must evolve to support these advancements.

Yet, many outside the space sector still view space as distant, expensive, or limited to government agencies. To change this perception and drive real progress, we must elevate space advocacy to the highest levels of decision-making.

March Storm is about building the bridge between vision and policy—ensuring that space is not just a dream for the future but an economic and strategic reality today.

Our Primary Objectives for March Storm 2025

This year, we are focused on key policy objectives that will accelerate space development and settlement:

1. Elevating Key Space Offices in Government

  • Office of Space Commerce: Advocate for its elevation out of NOAA to become a separate agency or Bureau in the Department of Commerce.

  • Office of Commercial Space Transportation: Push for its elevation out of the Federal Aviation Administration to report directly to the Secretary of Transportation.

These changes will provide the necessary governmental support and leadership for commercial space growth.

2. Supporting Commercial Space Stations

  • Secure funding and raise the profile of commercial space stations by delivering letters from Congress to the Administration.

As the ISS nears retirement, the future of space infrastructure depends on commercial investment. Ensuring political and financial backing for private space stations is crucial.

Secondary Objectives

In addition to our primary goals, we are advocating for:

  • Space-Based Solar Power: Including it in the National Defense Authorization Act to promote sustainable energy solutions from space.

  • Reintroduction & Passage of the ORBITS Act: Addressing space debris and sustainable orbital infrastructure.

  • Congressional Support for Commercial Space Development: Encouraging legislative action to make commercial space an official U.S. space policy goal.
