The Space Frontier Foundation and the National Space Society appreciate the opportunity to comment on the draft Request for Proposal for the Commercial LEO Destination (CLD) Program. Few programs will matter more to America's future in space. We're glad NASA sought industry input before finalizing the RFP, and we offer the comments below in that same spirit of partnership.

NASA Bureaucracy Threatens Private Space Stations
Space Frontier Foundation and National Space Society say the current CLD draft Request For Proposals will slow down, if not kill, the development of truly private space stations to replace the International Space Station in 2030.

House Advances NASA Reauthorization Amendment Supporting Commercial Human Presence in Space
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives’ Science, Space, and Technology Committee approved an amendment to the NASA Reauthorization Act of 2026 declaring that United States policy requires the fullest possible commercial use of space and a growing and enduring human presence beyond Earth. The amendment was offered by Space Subcommittee Chair Mike Haridopolos (R-Fl-8) and co-sponsored by Science Ranking Member George Whitesides, along with Reps Nick Begich, Mike Kennedy, Matt Van Epps.
